Not even a breakout performance from freshman guard KeVaughn Allen could save Florida from a second straight heartbreaking loss to rival Florida State.
Allen scored a career-high 32 points, the most for a Gator freshman since Matt Walsh scored 33 against Miami on Dec. 21, 2002. But Florida couldn’t overcome a 13-point second-half deficit in a 73-71 loss to the Seminoles before 10,121 at the O’Connell Center.
“Tough deal,” Florida coach Mike White said Tuesday. “For our seniors, our players and our fans.”
Last season, Florida lost 65-63 to the Seminoles in Tallahassee when a ball bounded off the hands off walk-on Jacob Kurtz and into FSU’s basket at the final buzzer.
