SEC dishes out punishments for kerfuffle against Missouri

Defensive lineman Zachary Carter and linebacker Antwuan Powell will miss the first half of Florida’s upcoming game against Georgia for fighting during Saturday’s 41-17 win over Missouri. Gators coach Dan Mullen was fined $25,000 and given a reprimand for violating the SEC’s bylaws regarding sportsmanship.

“I respect the decision from the conference office,” Mullen said in a release. “As the head coach, it is my responsibility to defuse these types of situations, and I didn’t live up to that standard.”

The fracas began after Missouri defensive lineman Trajan Jeffcoat landed a late hit on Gators’ quarterback Kyle Trask on the last play of the first half.
