An SEC ruling improved the Florida Gators’ passing game on Friday, paving the way for Ole Miss transfer receiver Van Jefferson to play this season.
The conference voted to allow players to transfer from a school facing NCAA sanctions to another institution within the conference without sitting out a season.
If Jefferson, a redshirt sophomore, had transferred to UF from a school in good standing, he would have had to sit out a season and would have been eligible for only the 2019 season.
Instead, Jefferson, who stood out during spring drills, will boost the passing game under new coach Dan Mullen.
