Scott Stricklin embraces new role as Gators' athletics director

Scott Stricklin was unanimously approved as the University of Florida's new athletic director Tuesday morning, and current athletic director Jeremy Foley extended his retirement date.

Foley will officially leave UF on Nov. 1 instead of his original retirement date on Saturday. Stricklin was approved as UF's new athletic director by the UAA board minutes after he was interviewed by 13 members of Florida's search committee, who spent several months filtering through candidates. Eventually, the list of candidates was narrowed down to 22 and presented to UF President Kent Fuchs, who collaborated with Foley and other members of the search committee to narrow the list.
