The Gators landed an important commitment Wednesday evening.
Largo-Pinellas Park defensive tackle Jordon Scott verbally committed to Florida, according to multiple online reports. Scott is the sixth recruit to join the Gators’ 2017 class.
But Scott’s pledge is an especially important one as he fills a big need with Florida not signing a defensive tackle to its 2016 recruiting class. The 6-foot-1, 345-pound Scott would be the first defensive tackle to sign with the Gators since Andrew Ivie signed in 2015.
Scott is rated as a three-star prospect and as the country’s 60th-best 2017 defensive tackle, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
