QB Malik Zaire will make his second start when Gators visit South Carolina

In the wake of UF’s 45-16 loss at Missouri and a late-game quarterback change, Malik Zaire insisted he gives the Gators their best chance to win.

Interim coach Randy Shannon agreed and on Monday named Zaire the starter for Saturday’s visit to resurgent South Carolina.

“He didn’t do anything to hurt us,” Shannon said. “He did a nice job of getting the ball down the field. We just have to build on what he’s done.”

The offense needs to improve as UF (3-5, 3-4 SEC) looks to snap a four-game losing streak and upset nine-point favorite South Carolina (6-3, 4-3 SEC).
