Appearing in his first UFC title fight, Dustin Poirier defeated Max Holloway on Saturday by unanimous decision to win the interim lightweight championship at UFC 236 in Atlanta.
The judges each scored it 49-46 in favor of Poirier.
Poirier snapped Holloway's 13-fight win streak and ended Holloway's bid to become the fourth double champion in UFC history. (Holloway is the current UFC featherweight champion.)
After 22 UFC bouts, the 30-year-old Poirier was fighting as a title challenger for the first time in his career. Only UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping had more fights in the UFC before his first UFC title shot.
