Orlando attorney Clay Townsend will act as independent counsel for Florida quarterback Will Grier during the appeal of his suspension for violating the NCAA’s policy for performance-enhancing drugs.
Townsend is a 1978 graduate of UF, a 1982 graduate of its law school and now works for the law offices of Morgan & Morgan.
Townsend declined to comment at this time on Grier's appeals process with the NCAA.
Grier's grounds for appeal is unclear at this time. To get his 12-month suspension reduced, Grier would have to win his appeal on procedural grounds, questioning how the test sample was collected, or on knowledge grounds, arguing he didn't know what he was putting into his body or questions the specific banned substance.
