GAINESVILLE — Jim McElwain did not know what to expect last Saturday from his young Florida Gators. What followed told him his players had been listening.
Down two touchdowns to Tennessee with 10 minutes to go, the Gators had plenty of reasons — inexperience, anxiety, a struggling quarterback — to give in to the Vols.
Instead, Florida rallied for another close win during the first month of the McElwain era.
"There's not a bunch of guys gripping, they're focused on, 'What do I have to do on the next play to win?' There's no sense of panic," McElwain said.
