GAINESVILLE — Lauren Haeger has carried the Florida softball team all season long.
And even with a Women’s College World Series berth on the line, Sunday was no different.
The senior pitcher tossed a complete-game shutout to give the top-seeded a 1-0 win over Kentucky to send UF back to Oklahoma City for the seventh time in the past eight seasons.
Haeger gave up just three hits in the game while striking out five, including the game sealer in the bottom of the seventh.
Filled with excitement, Haeger tossed her glove in the air as catcher Aubree Munro and the rest of the team raced to the pitching circle to celebrate the victory.
