New UF WR Justin Shorter granted eligibility waiver

GAINESVILLE — The Florida Gators passing game received a boost with Penn State transfer Justin Shorter’s announcement he’d received an NCAA eligibility waiver.

Shorter, the nation’s No. 1 receiver recruit in 2018, looks to step in and help the Gators replace four wide receivers from last season’s team that are currently on NFL rosters.

Shorter, who last season was listed at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, has prototypical size and impressive pedigree. But he struggled to put the pieces together during two years with the Nittany Lions. The Monmouth Junction, N.J., product caught 12 passes for 137 yards last season as a redshirt freshman at Penn State.
