The Florida Gators picked up a big commitment on Wednesday when they flipped safety Mordecai McDaniel (6-1, 195, Washington DC. St. John’s College) from Tennessee.
“I would like to say that I will be attending the University of Florida,” McDaniel tweeted.
McDaniel committed to Tennessee in August but took an official visit to Gainesville for the Orange and Blue spring game in April.
“I like the DBU tradition down there,” McDaniel said of his Florida trip in April. “They said I would fit the defense perfectly and I would more than effective for them.”
Defensive backs coach Torrian Gray has stayed in touch with McDaniel despite his commitment to Tennessee and that led to Sunday’s flip.
