Florida may be close to replacing Jeremy Foley as athletic director, but it is not a done deal.
Mississippi State AD Scott Stricklin has emerged as the top candidate, although sources close to the situation said he has not been offered the job. As of Monday night, he had yet to meet with the selection committee.
Stricklin was one of the early candidates who the search committee reached out to after Foley in June announced his retirement effective Oct. 1.
The two sides could not agree on the parameters of any discussions. It wasn’t until after North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham withdrew his name a day before he was scheduled to be in Gainesville that the committee went back to Stricklin and parameters were worked out.
