Free throw shooting has been a major disappointment through 14 games of the 2023-24 season as the Gators are shooting 65.1% as a team, which ranks 328th in college basketball and is well under the Division 1 average of 71%.
Oddly enough, poor free throw shooting had not cost the Gators a game this season until their 87-85 loss to Kentucky on Saturday afternoon. In Florida’s three losses prior, the Gators posted numbers of 73.3%, 77.8%, and 78.9% from the charity stripe, out shooting two of the three teams from the line in those contests.
This was not the case against the Wildcats as Florida shot just 62.
