GAINESVILLE — Jim McElwain stared at the ceiling and braced himself for the worst.
The Gators head coach tossed and turned into the wee hours of Friday morning, haunted by visions of pick-sixs, dropped passes and blown assignments.
But McElwain's first scrimmage during his first preseason camp at UF was not nearly the nightmare he dreamed it would be.
"I'll be quite honest with you, I kind of didn't sleep last night thinking this could be a disaster," McElwain said. "And it actually turned out pretty darn good. I guess that's comforting, I don't know."
Eight days into camp, McElwain understandably remains unsure what to make of the Gators' offense — the side of the ball he essentially was hired to fix.
