I was re-watching it recently and it made me think of Jim McElwain. Making all the right moves is something McElwain has done almost flawlessly in his first 13 months on the job.
It began with the hiring his defensive staff. It would include one of the SEC’s top coordinators in Geoff Collins, former Miami coach Randy Shannon and Texas defensive line coach Chris Rumph, a former Alabama assistant. Those hires immediately softened the blow of the move from a defense-minded coach in Will Muschamp to an offense-minded guy. The credibility of having a staff with so much experience allowed the defense the strength of the team, to remain the strength of the team.
