Two days after Florida coach Jim McElwain announced that tailback Adam Lane was leaving UF to be closer to home, the redshirt sophomore from Winter Haven is heading to Eastern Kentucky, the Lakeland Ledger reported Tuesday.
Lane received his release from UF over the weekend and will transfer to EKU, an FCS school that is in the Ohio Valley Conference. McElwain said the offensive MVP of the Birmingham Bowl was dealing with some family issues and wanted to be closer to home.
Lane’s departure leaves the Gators with only four scholarship tailbacks, two of them true freshmen -- Jordan Scarlett and Jordan Cronkrite.
