Florida redshirt junior linebacker Jeremi Powell has decided to leave the football team.
A Largo native who graduates in May, Powell played in 10 games this season, recording five solo tackles and six assisted, but did not travel with the team to Orlando before Florida’s 41-7 loss to Michigan in the Citrus Bowl, as first reported by GatorCountry.
Powell’s playing time increased after junior Alex Anzalone was lost for the season with a shoulder injury.
A four-star recruit according to Rivals.com out of Pinellas Park, Powell had scholarship offers from Alabama, South Carolina and nearby South Florida before signing with former coach Will Muschamp on National Signing Day.
