John Calipari unconcerned about future of one-and-done rule

Coach John Calipari rebuilt Kentucky basketball largely with first-year freshmen who were off the NBA after the season.

But if the one-and-done rule eventually is abolished, as recommended last month by the Rice Commission, Calipari said his program will continue to thrive.

“I may have guys for two to three years, which would be awful,” Calipari joked at the SEC Spring Meetings.

Without a rule forcing players to go to college for at least a season, Calipari also might have lost out on Anthony Davis. Davis led the Wildcats to the 2012 national title before leaving to the NBA, where he is perennial All Star.
