HOOVER, Ala. – Florida coach Jim McElwain made it clear Tuesday he’s willing to adapt his offensive philosophy to fit the strengths of grad transfer quarterback Malik Zaire.
Zaire, who started three games at Notre Dame, is an impressive, physical runner but – at 6 feet 0 – is lacking the height of a traditional pocket quarterback. Zaire will compete with redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks (6-6), who held the starting spot coming out of spring practice.
McElwain was asked if Zaire would be able to throw from the pocket and how having a dual-threat quarterback would work while meeting with reporters at SEC Media Days.
