While Florida State's Jimbo Fisher doesn't pay attention to rankings, Florida coach Jim McElwain doesn't have a problem mentioning what's at stake for his No. 11 Gators.
"This stuff's pretty cool," McElwain said of UF's playoff contention. "I embrace the heck out of it."
McElwain said there's no point in ignoring the rankings with his team; his players can find the polls and hoopla if they want to. So McElwain addresses UF's big-picture hopes with the mentality of an educator.
If the Gators win their final three regular season games (at South Carolina and against Florida Atlantic and FSU) and earn the SEC championship (likely needing to beat Alabama), UF will likely be among the four national semifinalists.
