Jim McElwain said Malik Zaire recruited Florida before it was the other way around – and a high-profile backer helped win the Gators coach over.
“What kind of turned it over for me was the fact that one of his letters of recommendation to try to get into grad school at our place was from the president of Notre Dame,” McElwain said during an interview with Frank Frangie and Hays Carlyon on 1010XL Jax Sports Radio during SEC Media Days in Hoover, Alabama.
McElwain said that Zaire has already made a positive impact in the locker room for his new program.
