Florida interim coach Randy Shannon hinted at a quarterback change when he met with reporters Monday, and Thursday he announced that the Gators indeed will make a change.
Senior Malik Zaire, a grad transfer from Notre Dame who has played less than a half this season, will start Saturday against Missouri instead of redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks. The change is an effort to get Florida out of its offensive funk. The Gators have lost three in a row; they scored a total of 40 points in those games and averaged 307.3 yards per game.
Florida is 13th in the SEC in scoring offense at 21.
