How have Jim McElwain’s freshmen receivers fared?

The Florida Gators offense sputtered to an all too familiar halt during the final eight games of the 2015 season.

“I know that based on last year they didn’t have to redo any light bulbs on the scoreboard,” head coach Jim McElwain joked during SEC Media Days.

McElwain’s folkish humor hides a deep disappointment. He’s has been called a “quarterback whisperer” and offensive genius. He’s an offensive minded coach, wildly competitive and would be the first person to tell you that his offense was embarrassing over the final two months of the season. The Gators averaged 246 passing yards during the first six weeks of the season, a total that would have ranked them a respectable fifth in the SEC.
