Thanks to last week’s second-half comeback against Kentucky, Luke Del Rio is back as the starting quarterback for Florida.
Coach Jim McElwain has named Del Rio as the starter for Saturday’s SEC East game against Vanderbilt.
Del Rio entered in the second half against the Wildcats on Saturday, and went 9-of-14 for 74 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He replaced Feleipe Franks in the third quarter.
Del Rio completed a touchdown pass to Freddie Swain with 43 seconds to go, finishing off a comeback from a 27-14 deficit.
The move returns Del Rio, the forgotten man in a quarterback race expected to pit Franks against graduate transfer Malik Zaire, to the starting job in Gainesville.
