Former Florida standout Andre Caldwell was placed on injured reserve Monday by the Detroit Lions after breaking a bone in his hand.
Caldwell, in his ninth NFL season, signed a one-year, $885,000 deal with the Lions this offseason. The younger brother of Reche Caldwell, Andre spent four years in Cincinnati and four in Denver, with the better statistical seasons coming with the Bengals, yet the higher-profile ones came with the Broncos from 2012-15. A free agent in ’12, Caldwell signed in Denver more than a week before Peyton Manning did but played as a deep backup in each of his four years there.
