Georgia’s Greg McGarity unlikely to replace former boss at Florida

Jeremy Foley announced Monday that he will retire as Florida’s athletic director in October. That means one of the nation’s top AD jobs will be open.

One name you likely will hear as a possible replacement is Georgia AD Greg McGarity. While McGarity, 61, spent 18 years at Florida, he almost certainly will not replace Foley, who was his boss in Gainesville.

McGarity eventually named was “Executive Associate Athletic Director” at UF after serving as both an associate and senior associate AD. The history is there, no question about it. But his history in Athens is even deeper.
