GAINESVILLE — Just like he has on multiple occasions this season, JJ Schwarz gave the Gators a much-needed spark on offense.
But this time, the freshman’s efforts punched Florida’s ticket to Omaha.
Schwarz hit two of the Gators’ four home runs on Saturday as No. 4 national seed UF defeated Florida State 11-4 Saturday in front of an announced crowd of 5,772 fans at McKethan Stadium to advance to the College World Series for the first time since 2012.
Schwarz now has 18 home runs this season, breaking Florida’s previous freshman record of 17 set by Austin Maddox in 2010.
