Pitts, a first-team All-America last season, set a school record for a tight end with 12 touchdowns last season and averaged 17.9 yards a catch. But Pitts is not a traditional tight end due to his athleticism, speed and ability to move around the field at 6-foot-6, 245 pounds.
Pitts ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds March 31 during the school’s Pro Day, rare speed for a player of his size and playing his position.
“You have no chance against guys like that who are 6-6, 240-250 and run that fast,” said ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, an NFL safety for eight seasons.
