The Florida Gators earned a significant commitment to the 2018 football recruiting class Saturday, addressing a serious position of need for the future.
Linebacker David Reese, a nearly 6-foot-3, 215-pounder out of Vero Beach pledged to the Gators and became the first linebacker to commit for this cycle.
Coincidentally Reese has the same name as fellow linebacker and current Gators sophomore David Reese from Farmington, Mich.
The younger Reese is an important get for the Gators, who lost freshman linebacker Nick Smith from Orlando Dr. Phillips two weeks ago after he tore his left meniscus.
