GAINESVILLE — The Florida baseball team didn’t waste any time getting ahead of Florida State during Friday’s Super Regional opener.
The No. 4 seed Gators sent all nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning, wearing down the Seminoles and taking an early 4-0 lead. UF went on cruise control afterward, topping the Seminoles 13-5 at McKethan Stadium.
The game drew an announced crowd of 5,709.
Florida (48-16) put FSU starter Boomer Biegalski to work from the get-go, racking up five of its 11 hits in that first frame. Freshman Mike Rivera delivered the highlight of the inning, hitting a two-out single to right-center field.
