GAINESVILLE — The middle of the University Florida’s lineup had been slumping since first baseman Peter Alonso suffered a broken hand on May 13 against Vanderbilt.
Alonso returned to the lineup in a big way on Friday night, homering twice and driving in three runs to lead the top-ranked gators to a 9-3 win over Bethune-Cookman in the Gainesville Regional.
Alonso crushed two home runs and drove in three as the No. 1 Gators (48-13) opened up the Gainesville Regional with a 9-3 win over Bethune-Cookman.
Alonso didn’t waste any time making an impact upon his return.
