Gators rallying around Harris

Like everyone else in Gator Nation, the Florida football players were blindsided by Monday’s haymaker that starting quarterback Will Grier had been suspended by the NCAA for a year after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.

It was a big, powerful, unsuspecting blow. But it was not, apparently, a knockout punch. After taking a standing eight-count, the Gators are still upright at 6-0 and ready to fight on with sophomore quarterback Treon Harris.

“It’s something that sort of just comes out of nowhere,” senior tight end Jake McGee said. “You don’t have much time to dwell on it.
