Gators' QB Jake Allen announces transfer from UF

After ending spring practices well behind in the Florida Gators’ quarterback race, Jake Allen has decided to transfer.

Allen, a redshirt freshman, announced his decision Tuesday night on his Twitter account.

The former standout at Fort Lauderdale’s St. Thomas Aquinas committed to UF as a sophomore, but wrote new coach Dan Mullen’s offense is not the right fit for him.

Allen said he believes Mullen will succeed at UF and thanks him and QBs coach Brian Johnson for their support in recent months. Allen also thanked former UF coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier for signing him in 2017.
