The cancellation of spring practices due to the COVID-19 pandemic cost the Gators 15 pivotal practices and ultimately plenty points on the scoreboard.
When spring practices open Thursday, Dan Mullen said his staff aims to address the myriad issues with a defense torched at a historic clip last season, culminating with a 55-20 Cotton Bowl loss to Oklahoma.
“The one thing you got to miss a lot of the spring — we met as a staff this morning — player evaluation,” Mullen said Tuesday. “Finding out exactly what our guys do well and don’t do well and making sure that our scheme fits the strength of our players.
