Gators' offensive line looks to improve, mature under watchful eye of veteran coach Mike Summers

GAINESVILLE — UF coach Jim McElwain calls Mike Summers "Little Bass," a nod to his offensive line coach's affinity for fishing.

But while Summers might not always reel in the big one, he has proven quite a catch for McElwain. The 59-year-old is the only assistant retained from Will Muschamp's staff and could be the key returner up front.

Fifth-year senior Trip Thurman is the sole Gator linemen to start a college game. But those 10 starts all occurred in 2014 for a unit featuring four players eventually selected during the NFL draft.

The 2015 Gators have talent, but it mostly is inexperienced and unproven.
