Johnson’s interview this past Thursday for the South Carolina’s head coaching vacancy was his first shot at landing the top job in a college football program. It likely is the first of many opportunities ahead for the fast-rising 33-year-old.
But while Johnson’s future is bright, he is enjoying the here and now with the SEC East-winning Gators.
“Ultimately, I think at the end of the day when you get in this profession and you do a good job, you do a good job, people notice and you get opportunities,” Johnson said. “It was good to get those reps, but I’m really looking forward to what we have going on here
