The Florida Gators may have needed the 10-day break between games they received. It certainly showed in the final score with the Gators (7-3) beating the Providence Friars (6-6) 83-51.
The 83 points were a season high and the 51 allowed were a season low. The Gators accomplished that despite a
Mike White’s hand was forced in the first half. With the referees calling a tight game the Gators and Friars combined for 27 fouls in the first half, including two on Kerry Blackshear that forced the Gators to go with a smaller lineup. It changed the way Florida played offensively and defensively, but it worked.
