First-year freshman quarterback Emory Jones will back up Feleipe Franks during Saturday’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
There’s a good chance it will not be the last time.
A quarterback competition looms this spring between Jones and Franks. But unseating Franks, a redshirt sophomore who has started every game this season, will not be easy.
In a time when young quarterbacks struggle to balance their talent with waiting their turn, coach Dan Mullen said the 18-year-old Jones has the right attitude, regardless of the outcome in April.
“Emory is a guy I have not seen once not trust the process of what’s going on and how it’s going to play out,” Mullen said Monday in Atlanta.
