Gators fall short against top-ranked Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Unranked Florida gave No. 1 Michigan State a scare on Saturday night.

But the Gators (6-3) ultimately couldn't come up with enough big baskets down the stretch in a 58-52 loss to the Spartans at the Breslin Center.

Senior forward Dorian Finney-Smith put the Gators up 45-42 with a 3-pointer with 9:17 left in the second half, but Michigan State outscored Florida 16-7 the remainder of the game.

Finney-Smith and junior point guard Kasey Hill led UF with 13 points apiece. Sophomore point guard Chris Chiozza added 11 points, all in the second half, while sophomore forward Devin Robinson had 10 points.
