GAINESVILLE — Florida coach Dan Mullen’s expertise is calling plays, but Todd Grantham was most impressed with another side of him when the two first joined forces.
“Dan is an offensive guy, but he really has a defensive mentality,” the Gators defensive coordinator once said of his boss.
After the Gators’ defense broke down repeatedly during a last-second loss Oct. 10 at Texas A&M, Mullen spent the following day in and out of defensive meetings.
Mullen’s fact-finding mission continued during the team’s 14-day shutdown, even though he and a swath of his program were infected with COVID-19.
