GAINESVILLE — Following Florida’s latest flop on defense, players blamed themselves, not embattled coordinator Todd Grantham — the target of fans’ ire all season.
UF’s 55-20 loss to Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl certainly was a team effort by the Gators, rather than the fault of one person.
Yet finger pointing from Gator Nation in the direction of Grantham further intensified Wednesday night. When the dust settled in AT&T Stadium, UF had suffered one of the most lopsided losses in program history as the veteran coach’s defense continued to achieve historic lows.
“At the end of the day, players got to make plays on the field,” Florida sophomore linebacker Mohamoud Diabate said.
