UF star pitcher Lauren Haeger met her match on Tuesday night with the Gators one win away from repeating as national softball champions.
Michigan pitcher Haylie Wagner outdueled Haeger and handed UF its first shutout loss this season, 1-0, to force a third and deciding game Wednesday night in the best-of-three championship series of the Women’s College World Series.
The first pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. To repeat as national champions, UF must become the first team to lose Game 2 and win the rubber match.
On Tuesday, Wagner scattered six hits and rarely was in any danger against the Gators (59-6).
