Could Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy have ended up as the Gators’ next coach instead of Dan Mullen? Gundy’s former college coach says the answer is yes.
Former Oklahoma State coach Pat Jones said Monday on The Sports Animal WWLS in Oklahoma City that he was told Florida offered Gundy the head-coaching job.
“My Florida sources tell me the other guy that was offered the job was Mike Gundy,” said Jones, Oklahoma State’s coach from 1984-94. Gundy was the team’s quarterback from 1986-89.
Jones didn’t specify what terms Florida may have offered. He did say he doesn’t believe Gundy intended to use the offer as a bargaining chip to get more money from Oklahoma State.
