The Florida Gators finally return to the hallowed football field in The Swamp for a regular-season game on Saturday night to face the Utah Utes, and will in so doing inaugurate the Billy Napier era of the program.
That makes this game the biggest of Napier’s coaching career and life — until the next one, and by process of elimination, at the very least. And though Florida will probably be able to achieve its highest heights under Napier whether or not the Gators can pull an upset of the highly-regard Utes, who ended the 2021 season in the Rose Bowl but are still failing to cover Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, it sure would feel better for Napier and Gator Nation if Florida can enter Sunday at 1-0.
