Florida will have its starting quarterback at starting quarterback on Saturday against Missouri. Gators coach Jim McElwain announced the news on Wednesday during the weekly teleconference featuring the SEC’s coaches.
Del Rio started Florida’s first three games in 2016 before sustaining a knee injury in the second half of the Gators’ win over North Texas. Del Rio’s injury, reportedly a sprained MCL, was expected to sideline him for Florida’s games at Tennessee and Vanderbilt, but he was also expected to be able to return for last Saturday’s scheduled game against LSU. Last Monday, Florida listed Del Rio as a co-starter with backup Austin Appleby on its depth chart.
