Florida Gators coach Jim McElwain told reporters on Monday that sophomore wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland was “expected to be out” for Saturday’s game against LSU with a high ankle sprain suffered against Vanderbilt.
But it’s Tuesday now — and Cleveland is on the Gators’ unofficial depth chart for LSU.
And, okay, sure: Cleveland is listed as sharing the backup spot at one wide receiver position with freshman Daquon Green, who has played so sparingly this year he does not yet have a catch, and not as a starter.
But combine Cleveland’s own insistence that he’s “just bang(ed) up” with McElwain’s tendency this season to project players as out before being proved wrong.
