Florida will wear all-orange uniforms — with orange jerseys and orange pants — for just the second time in decades against Kentucky, the program announced via Twitter Saturday.
Florida has been exhorting fans to hashtag Wear Orange all week, and it should be no surprise that the Gators would pull out their orange duds against the Wildcats, who share Florida’s other two primary uniform colors of blue and white.
The Gators wore orange uniforms as their primary outfits often in the 1980s, but — despite associations with Emmitt Smith — those uniforms fell out of favor upon Steve Spurrier’s arrival in Gainesville, and were rarely seen again until the 2010s.
