Florida State settled a Title IX lawsuit by Jameis Winston's accuser on Monday, in part because of the ongoing cost of litigation.
Legal fees for FSU have already reached $1.7 million. Here's where that money comes from, according to the school:
About $421,000 comes from the state's risk management fund. That fund will also pay the $950,000 settlement to Zephyrhills' Erica Kinsman and her attorneys.
The remaining $1.3 million of the defense fees come from the Seminole Boosters' business operations. That money does not come from individual donations to FSU's booster club. Instead, it comes from things like licensing, concessions and gift shop sales.
