It was the worst performance of Kelly Barnhill’s career as a Florida Gator.
Six runs on three hits in the first inning led No. 8 Alabama to a 15-3 win over No. 5 Florida in the consolation bracket of the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City Saturday.
Two of those hits – from Kaylee Tow and Merris Schroeder – were three-run home runs to put the Gators in the hole early.
After the disastrous first inning, Barnhill was pulled for Elizabeth Hightower who stopped the bleeding in the first and handled things in the second.
